Until talking to family friends who have been proponents of solar panels since the mid 80’s I never knew that they actually get free electricity for the majority of summer because of their two decade old upgrade. Better then that the local power company pays them when the sun shines for weeks on end because they generate a surplus of energy. In other words a few times a year they create more free electricity then they can use at their residence. Instead of wasting that power, their power company will pay them for giving energy to surrounding neighbors. From how they explained it, they don’t have to do anything. The power company takes care of everything and they just see the savings on their bill.
Solar panels are expensive but getting cheaper. What other investment out there pays for itself so well? It is almost a guarantee to make the money back with energy tax rebates and a climate rich in sunshine. There is no doubt that my first house will have solar panels installed. By that time, they will probably be cheap enough for everyone to enjoy. You gotta love technology.
