General Electric has pushed the future of what we expect out of light bulb technology way up after they unveiled an LED bulb said to last 25,000 hours according to greenbiz.com. That is about 25 times longer then the average iridescent bulb on the market today as stated in the article. To break it down this LED bulb could potentially last for 17 years before needing a replacement. Going green is continuing to lead to big breakthroughs. On the surface, this is a small step in technology but what it really means is people will begin to have one less thing to worry about. Instead of keeping an extra supply of bulbs underneath the sink, we wouldn’t have to even think about a light burning out after screwing one of these suckers in there.
The new bulb is also said to direct light to the sides and down as a performance upgrade. I love technology upgrades on everyday life items. A longer lasting light bulb isn’t life changing but it has the potential to change what all of us think about keeping the lights on.
