We are in the infant stages of going green in this country and abroad. For countries like China who over the past decade saw large jumps in their infrastructure, going green is just beginning to become a concern above growing their economy. America along with the UK have been advanced civilizations for a long time now so it only makes sense we start rethinking the way businesses, transportation routes and homes are constructed to lessen our effect on the environment.
This morning while reading the news, I came across an uplifting MSNBC article called Emissions disclosure becomes business virtue. The gist of the story was there are no current laws in place for businesses to disclose how much carbon emissions they create on an annual or monthly basis. That has not stopped big names like Boeing along with other international businesses who are and I quote, “submitting detailed reports on how much they emit, largely through fossil fuel consumption, to a central clearinghouse (http://www.msnbc.msn.com).”
This is all in hopes of collecting data to better plan how business is run. From a going green standpoint it will become blatantly obvious who is wasting and who is saving. From a fiscal standpoint, the companies involved will figure out ways to lessen their monthly and annual utility costs. It is a win win for both sides of the fence. This is why I am all for going green. The benefits are not just for saving the environment but also the bank account. The decades of waste are over. The technology is out there to lower carbon emissions and save money. Something as simple as solar panels on the roof of a company located in a sunny region of the United States would greatly reduce everyone’s favorite electrical bill.
This morning Arnold Schwarzenegger, governor of California announced some changes to stir the state’s economy by creating jobs and lessening financial stressors on all factors of life here. He intends to create even more incentives for setting up something like solar panels on a home. I think it is a fantastic idea. There is enough sun in this state to go around. It only makes sense we start moving towards getting off the grid and harnessing natural electricity. Free electricity is the best kind after all. I have a feeling websites like American National Solar at http://www.americannationalsolar.com/ are going to be very excited about these California mandates. I know I am.
